Maintenance Engineer
Wimbledon
“A rewarding career in Rail awaits experienced Maintenance Engineers who are looking for a new challenge.”
THE COMPANY
You could be joining one of the most prominent train operating companies in UK. They are committed to improving the customer experience by delivering a reliable fleet of modern trains and you will be playing a critical part in helping them achieve this. This company has invested heavily in a brand-new fleet of passenger trains and are also undergoing a £multi-million refurbishment and upgrade programme to bring existing fleets up to an equally high specification.
Operating across a huge network, the rolling stock is serviced and maintained at a number of depots but you’ll be based at their largest site where planned preventative maintenance and continuous improvement activities shape the future performance and growth plans of this progressive and service focused business.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
You’re the ideal Maintenance Engineer if you have serviced and maintained electrical systems on heavy plant or vehicles. You’ll enjoy working as part of team to meet targets and be adaptable to changing needs. The ability to follow instructions is essential as is your attention to detail and commitment to following strict safety and quality processes and controls. Equally important to your technical skills is a positive and proactive attitude that will enable you to learn new skills and support less experienced engineers as you progress in your career.
THE ROLE
As a Maintenance Engineer your objective will be to service, fault find, repair and test electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems on passenger trains. This will include AC traction motors, drives, controls, pumps, brakes and doors. You will utilise a variety of measurement and diagnostic tools to complete the task and meet targets to ensure trains are returned to service as scheduled. Safety, performance and reliability are critical measures so you will be following robust processes and procedures to ensure these are maintained. There will be plenty of opportunities to develop your knowledge and skills as you shadow senior technicians and complete a comprehensive and ongoing training plan that will enable you to progress. The depot is a 24/7 operation so you will be working shifts.
THE REQUIREMENTS
You are the Maintenance Engineer that I am looking for if you have an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in an engineering discipline and have experience of maintaining electrical and mechanical systems on heavy plant or vehicles. You will need to be able to pass a medical including drugs and alcohol testing and be comfortable working shifts. Many candidates with backgrounds including the Forces, Automotive, Production, Aviation and Energy are now enjoying successful careers in rail so we would love to hear from you if you have similar experience.
THE PACKAGE
There is a fantastic starting salary of £35,000 plus benefits including free travel for you and your family, final salary pension, a suite of health and wellbeing perks and plenty of overtime if you want it!
