SPT is currently delivering a £300m Subway Modernisation Programme to improve the customer experience and secure this iconic public asset for future generations. As work on Subway Modernisation continues at pace this year, we will be strengthening our Subway Operations team to ensure that we develop good management practice that will be fit for purpose for years to come.
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Track Maintenance Engineer to support the on-going delivery of the Subway Maintenance Improvement and Modernisation engineering activity. Supporting the Infrastructure Asset Engineer, you will be involved in survey, design and construction works for Infrastructure Asset Renewals and technical/engineering support to the Infrastructure modernisation programmes; track maintenance and repair work; sub-surface chainage system maintenance; and the transition and migration for new rolling stock and control system introduction. The role will provide a challenging and rewarding learning environment and present opportunities to gain sub-surface tunnel railway experience from day one.
About you
It is essential that our ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in permanent way, track and sub-surface tunnel railway engineering and maintenance principles. You will have experience in track inspection, survey and geometry measurement within a sub-surface railway, with good level of experience of railway operations and engineering in a railway track/permanent way/civil environment. You will have an HNC in an engineering discipline or equivalent. A Membership of PWI or ICE or relevant professional body or working towards membership is desirable. You will have the ability to work collaboratively with internal clients demonstrating strong team-working attributes. Furthermore, have a high sense of commitment and flexibility, whilst taking responsibility in all areas including safety, and professional integrity.
The key responsibilities of the role are set out in the role description and include:
• Delivery of engineering support for Subway infrastructure modernisation programmes.
• Provide technical/engineering support to Subway operations, maintenance and project teams
• Assist the Infrastructure Asset Engineer in the development of Standards; Process; Procedures; Drawings and Working Instruction.
• Undertake engineering audits and inspections.
Full time hours will be 35 hours per week however you will be required to attend out of hours (including weekends) to meet operational demands. This role will incur frequent night shifts.
