This opportunity is available in a global turnkey business, they manufacture, overhaul and repair generators of all sizes from small to huge for a range of industries including rail, defence and oil and gas. They are looking for a Business Unit Manager to manage their Machine Shop at their Birmingham site, which houses 15-17 staff, but will be expanding on movement to their new facility in 2020.
The Opportunity

Role and Responsibilities
- Training and overseeing shop floor staff
- Submitting KPI's to the board to Operation mangers / directors monthly on performance/Downtime targets, throughout/ Rework/ Scrappage cost, which were generated from the shop floor each month.
- Ensure that jobs were completed on time for client and retain a profit even if it was made in or subbed out.
- Held regular production meeting for teams, to ensure everything was on track.
- Plan labour internal and external when required.
- Work close to the engineering team to ensure product can be made from drawings.
- Liaise with clients and managers daily.
- Work to improve and maintain health and safety standards
The Candidate
Essentials:
- Previous team management experience
- Experience in expansion and increasing manufacturing output
- Experience with onboarding/interviewing/hiring new staff
- Experience and understanding of the machinery used in the shop (borers, milling machines, lathes, turners)
- Good commercial knowledge - financially literate - this is a business within the business and will be facing internally
- Previous experience and knowledge/qualifications in health and safety + improvements
