Description
As an Asset Management and Control Systems / Engineering Management System (EMS) Senior Engineer at HS2 you will be responsible for developing the technical standards, requirements and specifications to which the system will be designed and constructed as outlined in the Command, Communications and Signalling (CCS) strategy.
The successful candidate will be an engineer with experience of engineering operational control systems, railway dependent on long tunnels and their associated systems. For HS2 the Engineering Management System being considered here will enable a railway engineering controller, sitting alongside a railway traffic controller, to manage the real-time and operationally critical assets to enable the safe, normal and degraded operation of the railway. This includes the HV/LV network and tunnel ventilation, for example, and will be configured to include a SCADA element as part of a consolidated and ergonomically intelligent platform, enabling efficient operational control and monitoring. The EMS Engineer will specify the system, define and gather the requirements and manage the tendering and implementation stages leading to successful deployment and subsequent operation of HS2.
About the role:
*Leading the engagement and management of stakeholders to ensure a holistic approach for development of engineering solutions;
*Providing technical assurance for Engineering Asset Management and Control Systems;
*Provide LoD Level 1 technical input against designated system;
*Working closely with the wider operations and engineering disciplines to develop Engineering Asset Management and Control solutions that consider all relevant systems and sub-systems;
*Lead the development of requirements, specifications and standards which deliver railway capability, while mitigating environmental impacts, within the programme and budget;
*Lead the development of technical solutions involving proof of concept;
*Act as the technical lead for commercially sensitive aspects such as tender evaluations;
*Lead the management of technical risk for Engineering Asset Management and Control Systems works;
*Providing technical expertise and advice relating to Engineering Asset Management and Control Systems to the wider project organisation and external stakeholders;
*Manage engineering aspects of work packages and suppliers, as required.
Qualifications
About You:
Experience in development or delivery of Engineering Asset Management and Control Systems associated with modern railways or similar client organisations;
Good understanding of Engineering Asset Management and Control Systems and their relationship to railway operations;
Understanding of development, design and construction of similar railway Engineering Asset Management and Control projects;
Application of technical standards, both national and international, which apply to Engineering Asset Management and Control Systems and railway system design and operation;
Understanding of the technical issues associated with current and future Engineering Asset Management and Control Systems technology;
Understanding of issues surrounding future-proofing of Engineering Asset Management and Control Systems assets;
Working knowledge of CDM & CSM regulations;
Awareness of relevant modelling software and its role in engineering solution development.
It is expected that you will actively promote and embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.
