H&S Advisor in Newport, Wales, newport, United Kingdom
We are a growing infrasturcture civils and electrical contractor and we are looking to recruit a H&S Advisor to work on live rail projects on site to start ASAP.
The role will be based at various site locations, predominantly in the Wales/South West but must be willing to travel. There may also be a requirement to travel into our Swindon or Waterloo offices to attend team meetings.
Role purpose
Advise, educate and ensure that all projects are compliant with Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental requirements and legislation. You are responsible for monitoring and checking that works are delivered in line with the BCM Construction IMS, HSQE standards and to promote safe working practices.
General duties
- Project documentation - working with the project teams, produce / advise and check associated HSQE documentation for the life span of the projects i.e. review TBS
- Act as On-Call Manager for out of hours working
- Investigate and record details of any incidents, cases of ill health, accidents, complaints and any nonconformances. Where relevant identify initial causes and investigate underlying causes of the events. Determine remedial action required and close out to prevent reoccurrence
Competencies, Experience & Training Requirements
NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health & Safety or equivalent - minimum, ideally GradIOSH
PTS AC/DCCR
Industry Common Induction (Network Rail)
Face Fit Test Assessor (Desirable).
Portable Appliance Testing competent (Desirable)
Fire Warden (Desirable)
IEMA Associate Member (Desirable)
CQI Practitioner Member (Desirable)
Experience:
Experience working as a H&S advisor in rail construction is essential
Experience of working on rail sites providing guidence, support and advice to site teams
Experience of creating reports and HSQE paperwork.
