HSQE Advisor in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, United Kingdom

My client, who are a principal contractor, are currently looking to recruit a HSQE Advisor to join their team in Doncaster.

The main purpose of this position will be to develop, maintain, monitor and audit all HSQE systems, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all legislative, railway, accreditation and company requirements. To provide advice and guidance on environmental issues on a project basis as required.

Key Responsibilities of this role will include but not be limited to:

  • Ensure the company complies with all Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality related legislation.
  • Actively participate and work as part of a team providing environmental support and advice as required.
  • Undertake internal audits to ensure compliance with relevant standards, managing and recording non-conformances as necessary
  • Maintain compliance with and coordinate/facilitate the external audit of:
  • ISO 9001 – Quality Management System
  • ISO 14001 – Environmental Management System
  • ISO 45001 – Health & Safety Management System
  • RISQS
    • Assist with the achievement and maintenance of other accreditations in line with business requirements
    • Act as the initial point of contact for all CDM works, creating and maintaining records as required
    • Delivery of safety, and behavioural safety, awareness including training, briefing and coaching as required
    • Attend meetings, workshops and briefings with professional clients and external bodies as required
    • Maintain the HSQE element IT systems
  • Coordinate and undertake the reporting, recording and investigation of all accidents, incidents and near misses in line with company procedures, railway requirements and legislative requirements
  • Undertake a programme of site safety inspections, possession audits and safety tours actioning non-conformances as necessary
  • Support the business by providing HSQE data for contracts and tender submissions
  • Provision of management information and reports to the Head of HSQE as required
  • Carry out additional duties deemed to be within your capability as directed by management
  • Provide Network Rail with key information regarding the LNW contract
  • Lead the Mental Health and Wellbeing group to gain accreditation and try to promote a better working environment (including arranging fun activities).
  • Carry out risk assessments.
  • Attending meetings for the client and implementing actions from the meetings
  • Working with Network Rail to tray and hit their Anglia Sustainability objectives
  • Inputting close calls and sending to NWR
  • On-call duties which include providing information as and when requested.
  • Adding to the HSQE Cascade Briefing and ensuring it is sent out on a periodic basis.

Key skills and experience required for this position

  • Minimum of 3 years experience within the Rail Industry
  • Recognised qualifications in HSQE – NEBOSH General Minimum
  • Technical membership of IOSH or working towards
  • Experience of producing and analysing management information
  • Experience of contributing to the development of policies and procedures
  • Railway experience (minimum PTS competence)
  • Accident investigation qualified
  • Ability to critically review and analyse incidents to establish root cause
