PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To support the provision of Occupational Health and Wellbeing services for Alstom Transport UK and Ireland (ATUK&I): Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety legislation while maximising and promoting the health and wellbeing of employees in line with the Company’s Health and Wellbeing Strategy
ORGANISATIONAL REPORTING
The role will report directly into the ATUK&I Professional Head of Health
NETWORK & LINKS
Internal: Environmental Health and Safety; HR; Operations; Unions; Senior Management
External: Network Rail; Transport for London; Crossrail; RSSB; ORR; Business in the Community
OBJECTIVES
Plan, coordinate and monitor the delivery of Occupational Health Services provided to ATUK&I.
Support the business with the delivery of strategic Health and Wellbeing objectives to include:
- Occupational Health Risk Management
- Promotion of better Physical Health
- Support for Psychological Wellbeing
- Enhancement of Social Wellbeing
MEASUREMENT
- Successful roll out and incorporation of Occupational Health against the ATUK&I Health and Wellbeing Strategy.
- Approved policies and procedures communicated and supported across all levels and departments
- Legal compliance maintained and retention of external audit certification.
- Data analysed and presented for Management Review
- Planned programme of Health and Wellbeing activities rolled out across all locations.
- Establishment of regular meetings with relevant departments to review action plans and progress.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provision of Occupational Health and Wellbeing services within ATUK&I
- Advising and coordinating the required Health Surveillance programme
- Case management of employee referrals; supporting HR and Managers with sickness absence; rehabilitation and redeployment;
- fitness for work and capability cases.
- Supporting Managers with the implementation of Safe System of Work Health Risk Assessments in line with Railway Group Medical standards
- Liaising with Alstom’s 3rd party OH provider on all Railway Group standard medical outcomes and Occupational Health Physician referrals
- Delivery of health education/awareness campaigns in line with ATUK&I and Network Rail requirements
- In conjunction with relevant departments and/or the approved 3rd party Occupational Health provider analyse, interpret and present data and information to ATUK&I
- Professional networking in order to promote good communication and continuous improvement.
POST HOLDER REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL:
- Registered General Nurse (Adult)
- Occupational Health qualification to Diploma or Degree level
- Interpersonal and influencing skills
- Positive attitude and an innovative approach.
- Ability to plan, organise and co-ordinate.
- Self-motivation and focus on meeting targets.
- Flexibility to travel in the UK.
- Relationship building skills/experience with dealing with Senior Managers.
- Ability to use, & previous experience of Occupational Health Systems (COHORT)
- Excellent knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
- Numerate, organised, self-motivated
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE
- Case Management with excellent knowledge of disability legislation
- Implementation and management of Health Surveillance programmes with excellent knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
- Data analysis and presentation skills
- Health promotion/education experience
- Rail industry experience particularly in relation to Railway Group Medical Standards; Safe Systems of Work; Alcohol and Drugs testing
- Construction industry experience
- Ability to work as part of a small in-house team with self-drive and motivation to work autonomously and manage own caseload
- Experience and confidence in communicating with 3rd party providers i.e. Occupational Health; Physiotherapy; Counselling.
