Principal/ Senior OLE Engineer

My client has an opportunity for a Principal/ Senior OLE Engineer to join their growing, world-class rail

business. As the Engineer you will lead and support the engineering team in projects and you’ll have the

opportunity to develop your career and put your stamp on up and coming major projects.

The role is varied and will be based in the York and support other OLE teams in UK.

As an international provider there is potential to work abroad in the future.

Your Key responsibilities will be to: -

Ensure successful performance of OLE projects in the York area.

Lead the support of the York office for existing and in preparation of new projects.

Deal with the commercial and financial aspects for the delivery of OLE projects in timely fashion and in line with budget.

Act as the line manager as and when required.

Generate new business and coordinate the preparation of bids.

Carry out railway electrification design, checking and approvals associated with system, basic, allocation and construction design activities.

Specific project design inclusive of various technical support activities for a wide range of railway clients.

Undertake site surveys.

Key Skills /Experience

You will have a good understanding of railway, UK national and international standards.

Of working in both the design office and site environments

Excellent communication skills both verbal and in written.

Extensive experience working for an engineering consultancy within the rail sector

Previous experience of OLE design throughout project lifecycles.

Detailed knowledge and experience of Network Rail design approval process at CRE level

Within Technical design and to carry out supervision and project management of staff.

Of producing and checking a varied OLE design details.

Experience of system engineering concepts and safety management.

Experience of familiarity with construction and installation methods.

Experience of project planning and costing.

Ability to write and check reports and specifications.

Excellent communication and people skills.

Strong leadership skills

Understanding of BIM is essential

Additionally, you will be willing to travel to other UK offices and overseas when required.

Qualifications

An appropriate degree or equivalent engineering qualification

Chartered Engineer or equivalent or an intent to work towards Chartered Engineer status

Member of a relevant institution (IMechE).
