This is a perfect opportunity for a SHE Advisor with major civil engineering projects experience to get their foot in the door in the highways sector, or for an established SHE Advisor to join a market dominating highways contractor on a scheme in the South West!

Location: Bristol

THE COMPANY

Our client is a leading construction contractor, with a compelling reputation for successfully delivering building and infrastructure works across the UK with a turnover of over £2.5 billion. They boast a heavy presence within construction operating across both the public and private sector, and with their successes have managed to increase their pipeline within infrastructure.

This is an exciting time to join this company as they make a start on multi-million-pound highways scheme in the Bristol area, and so are on the hunt for an established SHE Advisor to join the team!

ABOUT THE JOB

As part of your day-to-day duties as a SHE Advisor, you can expect to be involved in producing and providing reports for internal use and for the client, highlighting updates, improvements, progress reports, risk management – the typical characteristics of a health and safety report.

What makes this SHE Advisor role unique is that you will play a crucial part of the project as you will be encouraging good health and safety practice, being the champion of behavioural safety, whilst delivering a knowingly safe environment. As much as health and safety is crucial, you will need to be understanding that the work still needs to continue, so if there is an issue on site, you will be expected to handle the matter accordingly whilst causing minimal disruption to the project. However, if there’s a severe risk on site which means the work needs grinding to a halt, you must have the confidence to do so!

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

You’re the SHE Advisor I want to hear from if you are confident in your abilities, knowing how to tackle any incidents or accidents on site – and more importantly, how to avoid them! As you will be based on the front line dealing with the engineers, foreman and subcontractors, you will need to be approachable, someone who these people will listen to and work in harmony with, as ultimately this is how a safe site operates!

Due to the nature of the reporting, you will benefit from having highways experience (preferably Highways England schemes) as there’s more fluidity than that of other industries. However, if you have experience of civil engineering build schemes within rail, water or aviation, I still want to hear from you!

REQUIREMENTS

You’re the SHE Advisor I’m looking for if you have either a NEBOSH General or Construction certificate or any other relevant Health & Safety qualification. You will also need experience with a main contractor in a site-based role.

PACKAGE

If you’re the top-notch SHE Advisor I’m on the lookout for, my client is offering a basic salary up to £45k depending on level and experience, plus an excellent package including car/car allowance, pension, holidays and bonus!

If you’re open to lodging away in the Bristol area and meet the role requirements, subsistence can also be provided for the grade A SHE Advisor.
