Section/Senior Engineer in Norwich, Norfolk, United Kingdom
JOB TITLE: Section/Senior Engineer
LOCATION: Norwich
SALARY: £300-350 Per Day (Ltd)
My Norwich based client is currently recruiting for a Senior Engineer to join them on an initial 3 month contract.
THE ROLE
* To manage the engineering on a section/project to ensure the works are delivered to meet the client's expectations generally working within larger teams or self-sufficient on smaller projects.
* You should be comfortable with decision making and have a sound understanding of not only the safety, programme and quality implications of decisions but also the commercial implications.
* Experience of Setting out, RC works and Groundworks essential
Information and knowledge management
* Understanding and implementation of BIM and BIM Level 2 processes including; the value, benefits and investment, supporting documentation and standards and the barriers of implementation. Appreciation of the value of high quality data and the principles of data management along with the controls required to protect the security of the digitally built assets for the project and across the organization.
* Carries out basic research to identify engineering systems from outside personal experience.
* Takes a holistic approach to appraising options considering project wide impacts and opportunities for improvement.
* Facilitates the introduction and exploitation of new and advancing technology.
* Delivers work beyond customer expectation.
* Evaluates success of completed work and proposes improvements.
* Challenges provided information and the principles behind it.
* Anticipates problems and proactively resolves them.
* Engages with consultants and manages the development of engineering solutions and designs.
* Takes the lead in resolving engineering and logistical problems.
* Confidently makes decisions based on engineering judgment and with knowledge of the full range of impacts.
* Understands the critical path and plans works around it.
* Actively manages own self development and that of the team for example through participation in ICE/CIOB activities, mentoring as DE etc.
HSE
* Manage subcontractors and suppliers to construct the works safely.
* Ensure that risk assessments and method statements are maintained.
Project Management
* Familiar with the project life-cycle and able to contribute effectively at each stage.
* Develop construction methodology.
* Fully aware of the resource required to effectively complete a section of work.
* Manage site activities to ensure works remain on target.
* Knowledge of Employment Legislation.
* Knowledge of Industrial Relations.
* Takes the lead in all engineering matters related to their section of works.
* Will clearly and effectively delegate works amongst the engineering team to suit capability and will continue to monitor.
* Knowledge of Public Meetings.
* Knowledge of dealing with Media and VIP's.
Financial Management
* Effectively manages site reporting such as record sheets, site instructions etc.
* Capable of putting together cost estimates for sections of work.
ABOUT YOU
* CSCS required
* SSSTS/SMSTS required
* Site Environmental Awareness Training Scheme (SEATS)
* Experience of Setting out, RC works and Groundworks essential
* Experience of construction in a rail environment would be highly beneficial
