Senior Bid Manager in London, United Kingdom

Due to our continued growth and a number of exciting business opportunities we are looking for a Senior Bid Manager to join our established and successful bid team. Reporting to the Head of Bidding – Transport, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing bid and proposal submissions for the Transport business. Working at the forefront of telecommunications and technology bidding across the transport sector (primarily rail and highways). You will play a key part in collaborative and high performing bid teams and drive a results orientated culture in our business.

What will you be responsible for?

The successful candidate will be responsible for the end to end management & production of timely, high quality and ultimately successful bids in keeping with telent’s bid procedures. This will include:

• leading and developing bid winning strategies in partnership with the opportunity owner & business heads
• producing material from go/no go stage through to deal review, bid submission & win / loss reviews
• post Bid submission support including preparation of bid presentations
• Support the Head of Bidding with workload planning, bid forecasting, cost and win / loss tracking & reporting.
• Bid and Proposal reviews – won & lost – including recommendations for improvement.
• Ensure telent’s bid wiki (bid library) is updated and maintained with information from bids you have led.
• Work closely with subject matter experts, technical and commercial leads within telent or bid partners to develop compelling written and financial responses.
• Continually monitor the costs being incurred by the business throughout the bid process and seek on-going measurable improvements in telent’s “return on bid investment”.
• Support relationships with existing and potential customers including site-based meetings and presentations.

What experience and behaviours are telent looking for?

• Extensive experience of managing and leading a bid team (often virtual), driving efficiencies, reviews and continual improvement ultimately leading to an improved bid / success conversion rate.
• Experience of leading and producing winning bids and proposals to the public sector in an environment such as traffic, rail, intelligent transport systems, defence and emergency services markets.
• Strong project management and organisational skills.
• Positive collaborative behaviours, promoting engagement and knowledge share.
• Able to persuade and influence individuals and teams to perform better as a leader within the bid team.
• Ability to communicate at all levels of an organisation.
• Visible ownership and accountability, encouraging this in others.
• APMP or equivalent qualification with demonstrable bid wins and best practice.
