Senior Engineer - Asset Management and Maintenance - Rolling Stock

Reporting to the AMMS Team Leader, the successful candidate will be responsible for the provision of high quality consultancy services to our existing Scottish client base; principally train operators, rolling stock owners and train manufacturers.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Writing clear and concise technical documents to support maintenance and overhaul regimes
• Devising new or revised maintenance and overhaul regimes
• Deferring or extending maintenance and overhaul intervals by means of risk assessment
• Reducing maintenance and overhaul costs
• Review of maintenance plans for compliance for the purpose of verification or other regulatory approvals
• Maintenance life-cycle cost modelling
• Fleet or vehicle reliability studies
• Depot capacity analysis and modelling
• Fleet management strategy
• Vehicle maintenance benchmarking
• Vehicle maintenance due diligence
• Life extension studies
• Franchise bid support (in the area of fleet maintenance and performance, and depot and stabling strategy)
• Remote condition monitoring
• Reliability centred maintenance
• Managing or supporting allocated tasks, including estimating, planning, tendering, and execution
• Providing support to colleagues relating to technical maintenance products and services, in particular in areas of personal expertise and knowledge
Essential Skills and Experience
• A sound understanding of rolling stock maintenance principles and practices in the UK including maintenance plans, regime structures and how depots and fleets are managed. This will have been gained through experience in one or more areas in maintenance or service support within the rail industry. International experience or knowledge would also be beneficial
• Experience of devising new maintenance or overhaul regimes.
• Proven industry relationships with successful delivery of services or responsibility in the area of rolling stock maintenance
• Ability to assess assignment risks and how they can be managed (including technical, contractual and financial)
• Excellent communication skills, and in particular the ability to write with clear and concise text
• Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartership.
