Senior Environmental (EIA) Consultant in Southampton, United Kingdom

Role: Senior EIA Consultant
Location: Southampton
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 (Negotiable)
Type: Permanent

I am looking to place a Senior EIA Consultant within a multidisciplinary, international engineering consultancys Southampton office. The firm operates in 150 countries around the world and has won hundreds of awards in the century it has been in operation. The role would suit someone currently operating at Senior level who is looking for new opportunities to work on larger major projects, with the drive and potential of one day operating as a senior team leader/manager.

This particular role would suit someone with a broad spectrum of Environmental Impact Assessment experience. The core discipline is within Infrastructure for major schemes, but due to the collaborative nature of the firm, you will have the opportunity to work on projects alongside 60 other environmental specialists in the office covering Building/Construction, major Infrastructure, large-scale Landscaping, Acoustics, Air Quality, Contaminated Land, Water, and more.

The role would suit someone who is used to liaising with a range of design teams, ensuring internal and external compliance with suitable legislation at feasibility, detailed design and construction stages. You will have the capability to manage other individuals from different background, as required. Knowledge of EIA Regulations, the relevant sections of the DMRB, and ISO compliance would be very beneficial for any candidates. Further, knowledge of GIS mapping software would be beneficial, but not a requirement for the post.

Candidates will need to hold Chartered Environmentalist status, with professional membership of a relevant body like the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment. Candidates who are close to achieving C.Env status will be considered, but it is preferable that candidates have already achieved this.

Day-to-day responsibilities will include technical leadership and project management duties for multiple projects, managing EIAs throughout design and construction phases, liaising with private and public-sector clients, managing new and existing commercial relationships and mentoring more junior members of staff.

In return for the right experience within Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) experience, the firm are offering a competitive salary and a range of benefits to suit individual requirements.

Job Requirements:
  • Relevant Education within Environmentalism/Engineering
  • Affiliation with relevant professional body e.g. IEMA
  • Chartered Environmentalist / Chartered Engineer status
  • Experience producing and signing off EIAs across a range of sectors
  • Experience leading teams of environmental engineers
  • Experience of public/private sector client liaison
