The perfect opportunity for an Estimator to stand on their own two feet, as a market leading rail contractor kick-start their growth plan!

THE COMPANY

My client are market leaders within the rail infrastructure space, having renowned success across a variety of schemes with UK-wide coverage. They are part of a wider construction company with a group turnover just shy of £1billion, with their rail division trading as their own entity specialising in station refurbishments and minor civils frameworks.

Over the past couple months, the rail business has secured a monumental amount of work, seeing their annual turnover double to £50million. Due to this success, they are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join the team out of Bristol, to complement their current growth and to help them expand further!

ABOUT THE JOB

Despite there being people with the estimating function within the business, having sat down and analysed their strategy moving forward my client have identified a real need for an out-and-out Estimator to join the team, to allow colleagues to focus more on delivering the projects. With that in mind, this role comes with high autonomy and would suit someone ready to be left to their own devices – but don’t be alarmed, there will still be support within the business!

The nature of the work is high volume low value schemes under £5m each, with approximately 5 tenders going out weekly so if you’re unfamiliar with such a fast-paced environment, this won’t be for you. Likewise, they’re looking to achieve a success rate of 1 in 3 so not only does the volume need to go out, but the quality must be there too! Are you up for the challenge?

IDEAL CANDIDATE

So, now you know what to expect, I bet you’re wondering what would make you successful in this role? With them dealing in such a quick paced capacity, you must have experience managing lots of smaller programmes of work to keep up, rather than working on a multi-million-pound tender for 6 months.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

To be considered for this role, you must have experience as an Estimator working on lots of small programmes of work – ideally within rail civils, however if you have experience in other civil engineering sectors (or even construction), I still want to hear from you!

PACKAGE

My client is offering an excellent salary up to £65k depending on your experience, plus a company car or car allowance, excellent benefits package and 26 days’ holiday.
