Position: Senior MEP Design Manager

An excellent job opportunity for a skilled Senior MEP Design Manager to work for a leading international consultancy and construction company that has delivered signature world class projects since 1990.
You will be part of the design team, that will lead on a programme for the Ministry of Justice that encompasses the development and delivery of four new prisons. Crucially the role is to oversee the delivery of both the MEP design element and delivery on site of the programme. Reporting to both the lead design manager on the programme and the companies MEP consultancy design lead.


What will you be doing?

You will be responsible for the production design responsibility matrices, appointments, schedules to record progress, upline reporting, attending/chairing necessary meetings and workshops.

• Motivating and encouraging internal and external design teams.
• Managing both internal and external consulting engineers including fee proposals and appointments
• Ensuring MEP drawings, work packages and designs are produced on time to the agreed design programme, to a high quality, and are easy to decipher
• Overseeing the design process using technical expertise that also includes design is compliant to relevant legislation and technical requirements, client standards, BREEAM and sustainability compliance
• Working with clients to ensure that their expectations are met
• Reviewing designs with health and safety in mind
• Reviewing commission ability of systems during design and when the contractors are on site
• Ensuring designs are available to those who need them, at the appropriate time
• Maintaining thorough documentation of the design process.
• Working from home, in an office, with occasional site visits.
• Producing consultant scope of work documents
• Liaising with all departments within the business including development and operations, providing technical advice relating to all building services
• Overseeing peer reviews and to lead design reviews on projects and comment against agreed deliverables and the design for manufacture strategy
• Ensuring that the requirements of government soft landings are met.

You are digitally savvy, can build lasting client relationships and lead strong, motivated teams. Proven knowledge of BIM and Cobie outputs. Good working knowledge of CDM and construction health and safety. You will have a construction or project management background and be hungry to grow your career and enjoy the opportunities that the business has to offer.
