Job Description – Senior OLE Designer
MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:
The job holder will provide day-to-day design duties as part of the senior design team for SPL Powerlines UK Ltd.
MAIN DUTIES:
- Analysing and implementing of customer specifications.
- Establishment of drawing, tables like layout plans, cross section, mast boards, flowerings, overhead lines, construction phase plans and grounding plans.
- Implementing of static calculations with support of tables and software tools.
- Quantitative determination of cantilevers and droppers calculations.
- Support of tender calculations and cost estimations.
- Finalisation of design documents due to internal and external requirements.
- Cooperation with technical and commercial project management regarding time schedules and project costs.
- Participation of knowledge - transfers within the designing team, especially designing of catenary systems needs constantly communication with colleagues to reach the best technical and commercial solutions.
- Cost controlling with support software tools of e.g. SAP, supporting claim, change, order management, controlling of variations in planning.
- Providing work packages and allocation to technical designers and co-operating with colleagues within the design team.
THE PERSON
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a technical designer of catenary systems.
- University of Applied Sciences or University degree in engineering sciences, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Structural or Civil Engineering
- Excellent PC skills, basic skills of CAD software like AutoCAD and Microstation, as well as a good understanding of layer control systems, basic skills tables and text software.
- Decisive and sense of responsibility. Excellent verbal and written capability of expression against internal and external partners.
- Willingness to travel and to learn and open minded for new technologies
- An organised and methodical approach to tasks,
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team and support as required
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Full driving licence and vehicle
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- The ability to stay calm and meet deadlines.
- Ability to travel to different locations as and when required.
