Rolling Stock Lead Engineer/ Senior Technician (Contract-6 month FTC)

We are looking for a dynamic Senior Rolling Stock professional to lead the engineering team and provide safe and reliable passenger vehicles. You will lead the system engineers to provide engineering guidance and support to the rolling stock in relation to railway assets and systems associated with the engineering discipline, to ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation, maintenance and development of the railway.

Responsibilities:

- Lead the Engineering team to provide safe and reliable passenger and engineering vehicles.
- Investigate and review best industry practice in operations and maintenance
- Ensure that safety is considered in configuration control, standards, specifications, procedures, task instructions and method statements
- Lead on the production and ongoing development of an asset maintenance strategy in line with Publicly Available Specification PAS 55 (Asset Management)
- Provide professional technical support and guidance to the maintenance department and the whole business. Manage compliance with statutory requirements. Investigate incidents with technical aspects, in operations, maintenance and projects, produce reports and make recommendations.
- Set the standards for engineering competence and contribute to the training and development of staff. Participate in monitoring and reviewing of staff.
- To provide engineering direction and support for Rolling Stock engineering, maintenance and projects departments, other parts of the business, and for concessionaires as appropriate.
- Provide professional technical support to the maintenance department, and when required, to the projects department.
What do we require from you?


- Relevant engineering degree and CEng status (or working towards)
- Membership of a relevant engineering institution
- Experience working in a Technical Railway engineering essential.
- Working knowledge of railway operation and maintenance practices, including configuration control.
- Experience of asset management systems and vehicle management systems.
