Sustainability Advisor
Salary - £40,000 + Car & Benefits
Location: Based at either our Warrington or Birmingham office with travel across the UK. Requirement for flexibility to travel across the UK to sites and offices as required.
The Role:
Reporting to the Sustainability Manager, the Sustainability Advisor will provide support and advice to operational teams on all aspects of environmental management, meeting legal and company standards as well as supporting the implementation of the Sisk Sustainability Strategy across the UK business and helping deliver a culture of continual improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Support and conduct audits/inspections of Sisk workplaces, including facilitating external audits by certification bodies.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of environmental management plans and environmental risk assessments.
- Investigate environmental incidents and support the business to implement controls to prevent repeat occurrence.
- Assist in the development and preparation of key performance indicators and management reports.
- Assist tender and prequalification teams where requested advising on environmental concerns as well as helping provide practical solutions.
- Provide on-site advice to operations and design teams on environmental management, compliance and project specific mitigation measures, including attendance at sustainability mobilisation meetings.
- Liaise with client, regulatory bodies and subcontractors on matters of environmental management and sustainability.
- Assist in the maintenance and review of the EMS, including the generation and revision of guidance and forms as required.
- Deliver environmental training.
- Be aware of any changes to standards and legislation and where applicable recommend changes to systems and processes
Experience & Skills
- Full UK driver's licence and flexibility to travel
- Environmental experience in a construction environment or similar
- Experience of conducting environmental inspections and audits of projects, establishments and offices
- Application of legal, technical and regulatory information to the construction process
- Communicate clearly, both orally & in writing
- Good/Developing IT skills
- Developing analytical problem solving skills
- Influencing skills and ability to manage challenging conversations
- Experience engaging with senior management to deliver internal system compliance and regulatory compliance
- Time Management and organisational skills
- Interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships
