Building Services Engineer - Mechanical in London, London, United Kingdom
We are currently recruiting for a Building Services Engineer - Mechanical to work in the Depots Upgrade team at various London locations.
This work will include upgrading of heating, HVAC, Hot and Cold water system, compressed air and Gas systems, within the depot shed areas & train inspection/maintenance pits for carrying out various maintenance activities such as train doors, train HVAC equipment, Wheel Lathe equipment, Train Lifting equipment and other maintenance activities. Make provision for new Winterisation facilities. There will be other enabling works which will require mechanical services input.
The Skills, Knowledge and Experience expected of the Building Services Engineer - Mechanical are as follows:
- Experience in the design and installation of Split air-conditioning, VRF and ventilation systems, this shall include the sizing of pipes, cables and controls philosophy.
- Liaising with the other discipline engineers/consultants to assess the equipment heat loads within particular rooms to meet temperature and cooling requirements.
- Size the Cooling equipment required to maintain the required temperatures as per LU standards.
- Carry out calculations to assess the Lower explosive limit (LEL) of gases produced by the charging of batteries and the level of ventilation required.
- Survey the location to ensure that ventilation and cooling equipment are position such that it is accessible for maintenance and does not impact on others, such as residents.
- The applicant should be able to produce life cycle assessment for systems and equipment selected.
- Qualification : Minimum HND/HNC/HTC in Mechanical or Building Services and Minimum 5 years experience in similar type role
- Experience of managing Assurance and co-ordination of multi-discipline requirements with the development of E&M engineered solutions Experience of Working in railway environment and LU specific practices would be desirable.
- Experience of working in a Project with any of the following disciplines Signalling, Power, Electrical, Civil, Premises, Fire and Communication Recognised membership of professional institution (e.g IMechE/CIBSE/IET) is essential.
- Capable of writing, reviewing and accepting Mechanical design & calculation reports and risk assessment report.
