MECHANICAL ENGINEER – RAIL – LONDON - £55,000

DESCRIPTION:

This role is responsible for developing the performance of rolling stock. You would also be one of the technical mechanical support team for the production, fleet management and supply chain teams by assessment and containment of all performance events (safety, reliability, availability and customer experience) related to every rolling stock they operate.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support implementation of strategies for the maintenance regime to increase the performance of the fleet.
• Produce fault finding guides for depannage and production teams to increase the rate of first time repair.
• Update VMIs (vehicle maintenance instructions)
• Be the specialist technical support of shop-floor engineers for non-standard repairs
• Increase the quality of the maintenance and collect and answer their questions and remarks.
• Provide technical support the depot to assess non-standard repairs.
• Provide technical support the fleet maintenance team to optimise the availability of the fleet, supporting the derogation assessment and concession.

ABOUT YOU:

• Extensive knowledge of engineering in a depot environment with successful experience involving UK railways.
• A thorough knowledge of main railway components performance and their maintenance regimes.
• Experience of delivering reliability growth on modern EMU rolling stock with knowledge of reliability improvement techniques.
• Experience in implementing maintenance optimisation plans.
• Good communication skills, with an ability to build good working relationships across internal and external teams.
