Ford & Stanley - The Rail Recruitment Experts are recruiting an experienced Mechanical Engineer who can turn their hand at both design and project engineering for a rapidly expanding manufacturing organisation based in Tamworth, who are focused on supplying high quality systems to the rail industry.

The Opportunity

Based in the front line, you will be fully integrated into a successful engineering team in your role and expertise within Mechanical Engineering. With a combined role that breaks down 50% Design, 25% Project Management and 25% prototype development, you will be given a full overview of the project lifecycle, ensuring a varied workload.

Location (s): Tamworth

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that all products are performing to the highest standards and where these standards are not being achieved to propose and implement corrective actions whilst delivering consistent service standards.
  • Advising, instructing and training customers where required and be able to interpret maintenance & installation manuals - good verbal & written skills are essential.
  • Building great relationships with internal and external customers and colleagues, ensuring positive client and end user experience.
  • Compliance with all EH&S procedures and proper utilisation of all personal protective equipment.
  • You will be involved with New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, which will involve the management of testing products, creation and training staff on new procedures and guiding internal staff and external service agents.
  • You will be required to work 3D CAD system (Solidworks) supporting design activities of both NPI and production designs.
  • You will be required to construct and manage BoM's for communication
  • You will be required to complete Product Change Requests (PCR's)

The Candidate

Ideally you will come from a heavy manufacturing background, your degree will have given you an understanding of the mechanisms involved in Mechanical Engineering. Your self-starter attitude will ensure you are propelled quickly and progressively within the organisation. It is important you can demonstrate an invested attitude in achieving successful results both from a professional and personal perspective.

Essentials

  • Hold a Minimum of BEng in a Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 Years recent industry based Solidworks experience
  • Minimum relevant industry experience of 10 years
  • Working towards professional registration (IEng or CEng)
  • Full UK Driver's licence
  • Computer Literate - basic use of Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel and MS Project
  • Ability to carry out administration within a given deadline
  • Ability to provide a right first time solution
  • Ability to work in areas that have restricted access (Military)
  • Refrigerant experience is a plus but not essential.
  • Experience building prototype and NPI activities
  • Ability to work under own initiative
  • Problem solving engineering who can work autonomously
