Multi-Disciplined Mechanical Operators are required to join a busy team with an industry-leading Rail Company based their technology and modernisation facility in Widnes. This in an excellent opportunity to gain rail experience whilst adding to your existing skills!
This facility has been opened in line with the 'Re-Paint Project' as part of a refurbishment of over 50 trains. The role of the Multi Disciplined Mechanical Fitters is to work alongside a team of Vehicle Paint Sprayers and Vehicle Preppers to deliver a full external re-spray of the trains.
Hours & Pay
Average of 45 hours per week over 12 weeks (6 x 2 week rosters) - The hours will be working a mixture of day and nights shifts including working weekends.
All hours are paid at £14.29 per hour for all hours worked.
This is a Limited Company/Umbrella Company rate - PAYE rates are available.
Start Date & Duration
We have scheduled start dates on 9th and 16th July. This project is due to run until October 2019.
Location
The project is based in Widnes with excellent links by road to Liverpool, Warrington, Runcorn and the motorways!
Experience & Skills
* Background in Mechanical Engineering is required
* Electrical experience is desirable but not essential
* Able to act as a member of a multi-disciplined team (flexible attitude around team roles)
* Strong analytical and problem solving skills
* Good interpersonal skills
* Able to use initiative where required
* Good judgement and decision-making capability
Qualifications Required
Applicants must have a minimum of NVQ Level 2 (or recognised equivalent) in a Mechanical discipline. Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent with associated technical qualifications.
Candidates must be able to provide certificates at interview.
Duties
* To carry out mechanical component exchange in line with our Client's safety critical competency management system.
* Carry out surface preparation with the use of solvents
* Prepare the rail vehicle for spray painting. This will include sanding and brush painting
* Carry out minor electrical work and making safe of electrical systems, e.g. electrical plugs and push buttons
* Opportunity to undertake shunting activities to assist in movement of rail vehicles (as part of a rail movements team)
* Willing to accept training in other skills and carry our duties e.g. forklift and operational duties which could include the movement of rail vehicles
* Please note that you will be subject to a face-fit testing for use of face masks
Our client operates a strict zero-tolerance Drug & Alcohol Policy. You will be expected to take a Drug & Alcohol test on the day of your interview.
