Mechanical Systems Engineer, Derby, 6 month contract to start asap £ neg
The team provides full lifecycle mechanical systems engineering for in service rail vehicles. in this instance the need is to manage third party documentation for the customer. Review and verification of technical solutions and associated documentation to ensure that all aspects comply with appropriate standards and procedures, that solutions are robust and meet all commercial needs. In instances where multiple changes/ upgrades etc are related you will also need to be able to advise on overall vehicle performance and operability
The candidate will need the following attributes:
*Ability to review, assess and endorse mechanical designs
*Develop strategies for problem solving and a creative input to design solutions.
*Solicit customer requirements and transform them into solutions with our suppliers.
*Leadership of design reviews and demonstrate good engineering judgement
*Champion System Engineering best practice
*Proactive approach to solve unplanned or conflicting issues
*Work to processes
*Plan their own workload and deliver it on-time and to the right quality.
*Delegated authority from the Mechanical Systems Team Leader
*Willingness to develop a specialism in one or more of the systems.
*Technical specifications and report authoring.
Ensure designs are compliant to customer and legislative requirements. Including design review, design assurance statements, system testing, first article inspections, clause by clause responses to requirements.
Manage technical response from system suppliers, via Technical requirements documentation, interface documentation, deliverables lists, type testing, manuals, strategic development, building relations.
Assist our sub-suppliers in the design process. Use experience to offer design solutions and where a practical solution cannot be found revisit requirements and find compromise for all stakeholders.
Plan their own workload and deliver it on-time and to the right quality.
Champion best practice, lessons learnt, feedback and development of mechanical systems team as a whole.
Expected qualified to HND or higher in mehcahncial systems engineering and have had expose to systems related work with thin the rolling stock sector.
