Mechanical Systems Quality Assurance Inspector in London, Greater London, United Kingdom
My client is responsible for the biggest rail construction project in Europe, helping to improve London's commuter infrastructure.
Due to an increase in project works they require an Mechanical Systems QA Inspector to join them on an initial short term contract.
As the Mechanical Systems QA Inspector you will facilitate the progressive assurance and certification of the Bond Street Station Mechanical Systems by confirming through inspection of the works that the installed HVAC, Chilled Water and Public Health systems comply with the IFC design and the Works Information.
Principal Accountabilities
Within this role you will carry out progressive ITP and pre-IRF inspections on each system. This includes:
- Checking the installed ductwork, pipework and ancillaries are as the IFC design and in line with relevant MCRs, RFIs, FCDs and NCRs.
- Generating and submitting snag reports; and
- Aiding the contractor in producing ITP assurance documentation if needed.
- Represent the programme (acting as Tier1 contractor) at joint inspections with the Client.
The role requires inspection of works within a six-level underground station construction site, so requires physical presence on site. In addition, the role requires:
- Efficiency in producing and processing documentation
- Understanding of design information such as drawings and specifications
- Use of test equipment as and when needed
- Ensuring timely access to works for inspection through use of relevant access control processes including WAD and Permit to Work
- Liaising with contractor, 3rd party assurer and client to coordinate inspections
Dimensions & Interfaces (both internal and external)
Reporting to the Lead QA Engineer for Mechanical Systems, this role interfaces with:
- Mechanical systems specialist contractors
- Client’s field assurance engineers
- The wider Bond Street delivery team as necessary
Person Specification
Asa the role holder you must possess the following competences:
- Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Mechanical and Public Health Engineering
- Completed relevant trade apprenticeship
- Experience of site quality control, preferably of mechanical and public health systems
- Current relevant CSCS card
- Beneficial to have a good working knowledge of Crossrail
