Mechanical and Electrical Fitters are required for contracts based in Acton working various Rolling Stock projects

Sub Assy Electro Mechanical Fitters
Electro Mechanical Fitters with a time served apprenticeship or a minimum of NVQ Level 3 in an engineering field. They need to also be mechanically biased. All the positions are for bench work and the role involves stripping the various items down, cleaning, and condition assessing and measuring individual components according to work instruction requirements, rebuilding & testing. The items we overhaul are various different types of pneumatic valves that operate the braking system of the train as well as brakes, contactors & door engines.
Bogie Builder for the Central Line Overhaul
This role is for the dismantling and assembling of bogies, carry out component inspection and testing of the assembled bogie.
Must be able to read and follow detailed work instructions and component assembly drawings, be familiar with general hand tools, bearing press and power tools.
Understand and be able to use basic measuring tools, Vernier, Micrometer and ruler.
Must understand how to set and use a Torque Wrench and understand the principles of their use including witness marking.
There will be a requirement for the use of overhead cranes and other workshop equipment for which training will be provided.
NVQ level 3 is desirable but NVQ level 2 may be considered with suitable relevant experience
Mechanical Fitters for the 72TS Bakerloo Life extension Project
This role is for the structural and mechanical repair of 72TS which includes the fitting of brackets and the modification of steel/aluminium structural sections. Must be able to read and follow detailed work instructions, installation and assembly drawings, be familiar with general hand tools and power tools. Understand and be able to use basic measuring tools, Vernier, Micrometer and ruler. Must understand how to set and use a Torque Wrench and understand the principles of their use including witness marking. NVQ level 3 is desirable but NVQ level 2 may be considered with suitable relevant experience.
