Mechanical Fitter - Tram Maintainer (Bench Work)

Contract Role - 12 Months
Pay - £18.00 per hour

A leading international rail company is seeking 2x Tram Maintainers to join their Nottingham team on a high profile caliper overhaul. Relevant mechanical qualification and rail experience are essential, overhaul experience would be advantageous.

The overhaul project is working on a fleet of rolling stock for Nottingham Tram; replacing calipers. The calipers will be removed from the bogies by a maintenance team and passed to the overhaul team. It will be their task to:

Strip - Replace - Rebuild - Test

The majority of the work is bench work but there may be some operations which are working in/on the trams. Circlip and O-ring removal and replacement is a key aspect of this work

Shifts/Rate

Working Monday to Friday Days only the standard hours will be 40 per week. Shift starts will be 7am.

Paid at a rate of £18/hr as a limited company (PAYE rates are available)


Main duties and responsibilities will include:

* To work as a member of a team to service, maintain, repair and overhaul tram stock & equipment
* Work as directed by and in co-operation with the Production Manager and comply with all depot protection procedures
* Understand and abide to safety notices, rules and regulations and follow safe working practices, H & S.A.W. and C.O.S.H.H.
* Adhere to and work within Quality Systems to the current standard
* Work as part of a team, complete or assist in any of the team's activities to ensure work is completed on time to specification


Candidate requirements:
* NVQ 3 in Mechanical Engineering or Time served apprenticeship or recognized equivalent
* Practical knowledge and experience of mechanical engineering
* Experience of working to procedures, work instructions and vehicle maintenance instructions.
* Overhaul experience would be an advantage
