Samuel Knight are currently recruiting for a managing quantity surveyor to help deliver a portfolio of Rail infrastructure projects. We are pleased to be working with this client, who are growing from strength to strength in the Rail sector.

The Job:

Reporting to the projects Commercial lead, the successful candidate will lead a team of assigned SQS’, QS’ and graduate level surveyors.

Our client are seeking a candidate who can play a senior role in creating a profitable localised business unit, by delivering high quality commercial and financial management of Rail infrastructure projects.

A successful candidate would be expected, on a weekly basis, to undertake the following key responsibilities:

• Work with project leadership to align commercial status with the operational strategy
• Prepare overview of finance to present all accounts payable and contract commitments
• Ensure all monies received are in expectation of signed agreements
• Timely submission of tendering information to senior stake holders and external clients
• Provide an overview of capability of financial team members, and provide ongoing upskilling as appropriate through direct liaison and company training programmes
• Commercial management and ultimate responsibility for our clients sub-contractors, up to and including the settlement of accounts

The successful candidate will hold the following qualifications and experience:

• Educated to degree standard in commercial subject – ideally with a professional membership
• Experience to compensate this qualification would be considered
• Experienced working in a Rail project and contracting environment would be beneficial
• Team management & communication skills
