Job Summary

The Transport Planning, Development Planning, and Development Infrastructure team are actively looking to grow our London team. We are putting on open days across the region giving you an opportunity to meet with the Transport Planning, Development Planning, and Development Infrastructure hiring staff directly.

We have exciting opportunities to join accomplished teams and work on a range of ground-breaking and innovative projects for a wide variety of clients. We value a combination of analytical and communication skills, with a creative and enthusiastic approach to problem solving. We are seeking individuals with passion for the transportation or civil engineering market and an in-depth appreciation of their chosen area with good knowledge of wider transport issues.

Our Transport Planning, Development Planning and Development Infrastructure teams work with private and public sector clients. We have proactively managed some of the UK’s most high profile Transport Planning and infrastructure projects which are at the forefront of the Transport Planning industry. Our current UK public sector clients include the Department of Transport, Transport for London, Highways England as well as a host of local authorities and London boroughs within England.

We operate a number of Frameworks from the team so have a really diverse range of projects to choose from. These span innovative use and application of mobile phone data through to close partnership working and research with Universities and academia. Our development planning team work throughout the development life cycle; providing services from site feasibility through to completion. We undertake Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, Preliminary and Detailed Designs and Safety Audits.

Minimum Requirements

Ideally our Consultants, Modellers, and Engineers will have some these key requirements:

  • Analytical background, such as mathematics, economics, geography, or engineering;
  • Ability to manage own time to meet project deadlines;
  • Excellent presentation skills;
  • Capability to set out specific tasks and supervise others in the completion of these tasks;
  • Strong technical and report writing skills;
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to others;
  • Capability to set out and produce quality client reports; and
  • Appreciation of project risk issues and application of these to day-to-day tasks.
  • Dependent on the project and team:
  • Transport Planning and Development Planning
  • Proven analytical, data manipulation or statistical skills using appropriate software;
  • Knowledge and experience in transport demand and supply modelling, forecasting and experience in appraisal and evaluation of transport proposals;
  • Strong transport planning market knowledge;
  • Knowledge and experience in transport modelling and forecasting and experience in appraisal and evaluation of transport proposals;
  • Knowledge and experience in computer programming languages (e.g. VBA, SQL, Python);
  • Experience in using one or more relevant transport modelling packages e.g. ARCADY, PICADY, LINSIG, etc.
  • Good knowledge of transport modelling related software packages e.g. SATURN, PARAMICS, CUBE, EMME, VISUM, VISSIM, TUBA as wells as knowledge and experience of GIS software;
  • Development Infrastructure / Development Engineering
  • Experience in the preparation and/or review of highways and drainage design;
  • Experience in the building of and/or review of hydraulic models using Micro Drainage;
  • Suitable experience in AutoCAD, Civils 3D and/or MX/PDS software;
  • Experience in traffic signage and road marking for highways schemes;
  • In addition to the above, Principals and Directors will ideally hold these key requirements:
  • Demonstrable experience in managing teams and developing them to meet their potential;
  • Experience of successfully delivering technically challenging transport planning projects;
  • Experience in mentor and developing other members of staff;
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including managing their expectations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Membership or working towards membership of a chartered professional institution such as CIHT, TPS, CILT or ICE
  • Full UK drivers licence.
