Missions & Main activities

The role relates to the execution of the Birmingham tramway network extension contract. The aim of this once-renewable five-year contract is to construct 4 km of new line in the coming three years (three extensions) and an additional 15 km in the following five years (two additional lines).

The role of Egis Rail is included in a partnership agreement called "The Midland Metro Alliance" which brings together the Prime Contractor, the Construction Consortium and the Engineering Office.

This exciting role is for an Alignment and Track 3D CAD Technician who is responsible for producing tramway alignment, trackform and tram ducting models and drawings for the MMA network extensions. Models will be produced in 3 dimensions.

The Alignment and Track 3D CAD Technician will work closely with the alignment and track engineers and gathers requirements from all disciplines to deliver the ducting design.

The successful candidate will develop the best tram alignment combining best speed, good urban integration, and taking into account highway, drainage, and traffic management constraints. In addition, you will provide design solutions and technical drawings for track structure.

You will have:

• A strong knowledge of AutoDESK CIVIL 3D, experience in the rail engineering sector, particularly in railway alignment design will be considered valuable assets
• Understanding the ORR regulations, especially the RSP2 design guidance.
• Experience with AutoDESK design software (Autocad and CIVIL 3D), and/or BENTLEY (InROADS and/or Rail Track)
