Asset Planner working pattern will consist of 2 days in office George Stevenson house
Role background
To undertake ‘Desk Based’ site reconnaissance desk studies to understand most suitable access strategy to undertake Earthwork Examinations.
Package sites into deliverable packages to inform Safe Work Pack requests.
General support in the development and production of the Route Engineering Access Strategy and cyclical access planning meetings.
Support the resolution of access conflicts through industry engagement and consultation.
The key responsibilities of an Asset Planner
- Support the Geotechnical Examination Team to deliver all activities associated with planning to undertake Earthwork Examinations (access opportunities, possessions, worksites and identifying opportunities for integration).
- Engage with Route wide stakeholders and customers to develop the Engineering Access Plan.
- Provide information to support the choice of preferred access type.
- Attendance, and when required chairing planning meetings including producing, checking, validating publications and updates as necessary.
- Assist and support with the creation of materials and documentation to aid the operational delivery of the Engineering Access Plan.
Assist and support with the identification and implementation of quality and efficiency improvements
Essential:
- Knowledge of relevant railway geography and network capability.
- Knowledge of railway ‘Safe Systems of Work’, i.e. Separated Working, Possessions, Line Blocks, Blockades, etc.)
- SSWO knowledge
- Able to prioritise and organise workload to ensure that deadlines are met.
- Able to demonstrate the ability to organise effectively.
- Displays a good attention to detail.
- Displays good communication skills and a customer focussed approach.
- Willing to learn to document all aspects of possession parameters.
- Good understanding of IT and operating of systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft office applications and other relevant software
Desirable
- Knowledge of relevant planning systems.
- Experience of working as a ‘Responsible Manager’ and the endorsement of Safe Work Packs.
- Knowledge of relevant train services and network capacity.
Understanding of train service structure and commercial and practical implications of implementing changes to the timetable.
