Missions & Main activities
The role relates to the execution of the Birmingham tramway network extension contract. The aim of this once-renewable five-year contract is to construct 4 km of new line in the coming three years (three extensions) and an additional 15 km in the following five years (two additional lines).
The role of Egis Rail is included in a partnership agreement called "The Midland Metro Alliance" which brings together the Prime Contractor, the Construction Consortium and the Engineering Office.
This exciting role for a BIM Coordinator will play a key role in implementing the design and delivery process and also an important role in the implementation of the project execution strategy, supporting the BIM Manager and Discipline Leads.
The BIM Coordinator will be the point of contact for receipt of all multi-disciplinary information and dialogue with the other design organisations involved within the allocated business unit/project, including OLE, Track, Urban Realm, Highways, Systems, Signalling, Structures etc.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for coordinating the IDR/IDC process, gathering relevant design information, ensuring the right format is used.
You will have:
• Proven capability in managing design interfaces and integration processes
• Good understanding of all relevant BIM standards, design integration procedures and relevant legislation
• Relevant experience in the design, specification and procurement of infrastructure, tram design preferably
• Experience of using REVIT, Civil3D, Navisworks.
• A clear understanding of our multi-disciplinary design approach and the delivery of projects to a high quality, throughout all design stage gates
• Experience in the successful management of the infrastructure design elements of projects preferable but not essential
• Experience and understanding of multi-disciplinary design processes at high standards
• An excellent knowledge of BIM and the ability to implement the use 3D multi-disciplinary modelling on projects, highly important
• Ability to use modelling and analytical tools to eliminate health and safety risks in the design
