Role Purpose
- To provide technical assurance to the project cycle by carrying out the role of Contractors Engineering Manager (CEM).
- Support the project teams in delivering the business plan by providing technical expertise and mentoring.
- Deliver role in accordance with Procedure for Engineering Management and other associated Story Contracting procedures.
Key Accountabilities
1. Discharge the duties of Contractors Engineering Manager (CEM) in accordance with NR/L2/INI/02009 on behalf of Story Contracting on a scheme-specific basis throughout the lifecycle of the project.
- Engage with Project Team to provide support as required throughout the design cycle. Ensure the design process has been completed compliantly by chairing IDC meetings and attending design review meetings as and when as dictated by the technical requirements of the project
- Ensure AFC deliverables have undergone adequate review for buildability and risk management
- Ensure adequate CRE competencies are allocated to schemes in all relevant disciplines. Undertake a critical review of CRE competency as required and advise on additional support where gaps exist.
- Carry out robust review of Construction Phase Plan and Environmental Management Plan documentation on a scheme-specific basis.
- Act as lead reviewer during readiness review process in preparation for core works.
- Carry out review and endorsement to Health and Safety file documentation prior to submission.
2. Support the various contracting teams by providing technical guidance and best practice in specialist disciplines.
- Maintain close working relationships with Construction Management and Engineering Teams to ensure engineering deliverables are robust and high-quality standards are maintained on-site.
- Provide support to Project Management teams in the assessment and production of programming and technical planning. Provide consistency across all projects within the portfolio in design, feedback on design consultant performance and best value.
- Engage with Estimating team to provide support in the appointment of design consultants. Carry out the evaluation of client remints and / or CT-R documentation to ascertain the correct levels of design deliverables and the identification of multi-disciplinary interfaces. Produce design scope documentation and carry out assessment of consultant CRT schedules.
- Provide mentoring and support to Site Managers and Engineers to assist with the technical delivery of the project
- Carry out periodic reviews to test adequacy of planning and delivery - Engineering Health Check
3. Where required, carry out the role of Contractors Responsible Engineer (CRE) on a scheme-specific basis to provide additional or specialist support to project teams.
- Carry out duties of Temporary Works Coordinator on projects (where appointed).
- Provide robust review of Works Package Planning process and sign off as being fit for purpose.
- Provide support to delegated roles in the delivery of specific duties.
- Carry out detailed review and sign off to company procedures as required. QITP, Permit to Dig, Lessons Learnt etc.
