Summary:
An Estimator is required to join an infrastructure services Main Contractor in the railway. The position will be office based in Preston, Lancashire with a requirement to travel to sites throughout England & Wales. You will work closely with project and commercial staff on various projects and be ambitious to progress in your role to become a valuable member of the business.
Experience working within Civil Engineering will be essential for this role. An understanding of the daily demands of estimating is desirable and you must have the confidence to work alone. As one of the UK’s leading providers of solutions for the Rail Infrastructure, rail experience would be advantageous, but it is not essential. We are looking for a self-starter, who is a quick learner.
Naturally this position will require some travel and may be attractive to someone looking to move from project management into a new role.
Responsibilities & Duties:
• Preparation of tender enquiries from receipt to submission
• To ensure all tender submissions meet the client’s requirements
• Ensure the company is fully aware of the risk and opportunities involved in each tender
• Co-ordination of other office based and site based staff to assist in the tendering process
• Liaison and communications between QTS and the potential client during the tender and pre-award periods, including attendance at meetings and technical queries
• Co-ordination and liaison with design consultants
• Compilation and appraisal of material and sub-contract enquiries associated with the respective tender
• Production of tender price, programme and other required documentation required for each tender
• Review of tenders with Senior Management prior to submission
Minimum Requirements:
• Civil Engineering experience (Essential)
• Civil Engineering Estimator experience (Desirable)
• Estimating experience in UK Rail Infrastructure (Advantageous)
• Familiar with the railway standards (Advantageous)
• Must be willing to travel throughout the UK
• Strong Budgeting & Numeric Skills
• Must be IT literate
• Have good interpersonal skills
• Good attention to detail and highly organised
• Full UK Driving Licence
