Mane are recruiting for an Estimator to work on an on going contract. You will be working for a Civil engineering company based in North London. You will working as a rail estimator and be instrumental in the winning of work from key clients and principal contractros.

Your duties as an Estimator will be primarily be leading and coordinating all aspects of selected tenders, ensuring high quality and competitive proposals.
Your key elements will be:
* Review tender documents and submission requirements, ensuring we evaluate all relevant information in the bid process.
* Liaison with the design, and other departments, to ensure that innovative, and most appropriate, solutions are produced.
* Ensuring that all identified risks are mitigated.
* Liaison with Business Unit Manager, and the construction teams, to ensure correct resources, productions etc are employed to deliver the projects.
* Preparations of cost plans, risk assessments, and risk mitigations, in line with procedures.
* Preparation and submission of pricing documents and tender proposal in line with our client's requirements.
* Provide effective, and considerate, communications with our clients throughout, and post, the bid process. Willingness to attend meetings, and a professional image is essential.
* Ensuring that project operations, and the commercial team, have an effective handover on secured projects.
* Compliance with business strategy and procedures, and a relentless focus on safety

Requirements -
Either sub-contract or principle contractor experience
Rail experience preferred
oIdeally projects from 500k to 5m.

- Packages tendered
oPiling attendance and cropping piles to level
oReduce level excavation and waste transfer
oGroundworks and drainage including small and large bore pipe installation.
oTemporary works design
oInstallation of utilities service ducts and chambers
oFoundations, excavation, reinforcement, and in-situ concrete.
oAll FRC (Formwork - rebar - concrete) works.
oBrick and blockwork
oFoam Concrete works
oSuperstructure including Ground floor slabs
oRC Frames (Columns, walls, floors)
oTunnelling and sinking shafts
oRetaining walls
oAttenuation tanks
oSpecialist formwork solutions
oRoad Carriageway and Pavement Surfacing
oLine marking
otraffic management
oExternal works including hard and soft landscaping (excluding Arboriculture)

*Understanding of possession working, candidate should be able to explain possession shift patterns and understand reduction in available working hours which in-turn has a knock on effect for productivity.
oCandidate should be able to give examples of typical groundwork-related productivity metrics such as excavation (m3/hr) and steel fixing (tonne/hr)

*If the client has been working recently then we would expect them to have a good understanding of materials costs, typical disposal rates, labour rates, and a few typical groundwork/FRC-related bill rates.
oCandidate must be able to estimate from first principles. A rates-only approach is not acceptable.

*Use of estimating software such as 'causeway' or 'candy' is preferred not essential. Most estimates done on excel.
