Purpose of the Role
To manage and provide technical support within the Procurement Team for Network Rail owned assets including all vehicles within the Rail Grinding fleet to ensure the maximum availability and reliability is achieved.
Accurate and timely processing of incoming deliveries and engineering inspections of component/stock. Carry out high level of re-inspection and feedback from internal customers. Monitor results against Service Level Agreement. Maintain visibility of quarantined / rejected items. Use Network Rail Software - Fleet Asset Management System (FAMS) to document transferal of goods & certifications.
Key Success Measures
- Safety - Actively demonstrate support for the implementation of the Colas Rail Limited Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) strategy, associated with the safe operational delivery and performance of Rail Grinding machines and crew.
- Profitability - Ensure through the optimisation of machine performance and staff competencies that services are delivered to the expectations of all customers with regard to quality and quantity, driving performance related penalty charges to wards zero.
- Quality - The reputation of Colas is significantly influenced by the effectiveness and quality of the services we deliver and the competence and professionalism of the staff delivering and managing (real time) those services, the post holder must ensure that operating crews have the necessary training and competence to safely and consistently deliver the quality demanded by today's railway.
- Respect - Treat people in a fair and consistent way at all times and work to understand internal and external client's needs and requirement.
Key Areas of Responsibility & Accountability
- To carry out Goods Inward inspection for all component parts entering the company ensuring compliance to design specification and contractual requirements.
- Report progress regularly on the assigned tasks, highlighting where agreed target dates are not going to be met
- To identify and record any non-conformances to specification requirements. Liaise with design department to resolve such issues
- To generate internal First Article Inspection Reports
- To review all external First Article Inspection Reports to ensure they have been completed to the required standard and that they are fully compliant to the relevant specification requirements
- To produce and maintain accurate inspection records and look at reducing the companies inspection effort by following companies ship to stock process
- Control defective items via segregation from good product
- Raise and maintain relevant non-conformance reports.
- Any other reasonable duties as required from time to time.
Qualifications/Experience
- PTS or capable of achieving PTS
- Experience of Goods-Inwards / Stores / Warehouse environments
- Detailed inspection experience
- Engineering experience, ability to read schematics and technical drawings
- Possess a demonstrable knowledge of the output and capability of On Track Machines operated by Colas.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word & Excel
- Experience of working with a Quality Management System
