Job Title Director - Integration
Position Overview;
Reporting to the Vice President, Rail, the Integration Director will be a key member of the Rail Management Team and will be instrumental in delivery of multiple projects and activities relating to a rail transit design, integration and implementation. The Director will be responsible to oversee and manage integration of the rail systems including:
- Trackwork
- Signalling
- Traction power supply
- Traction power distribution
- Integrated controls
- Communications
- Civil Infrastructure and Facilities
- Systems and vehicle integration
- Rail shop and maintenance of way equipment
Key Responsibilities;
- Implement and enforce Health and Safety program
- Responsible for the overall integration of all rail systems, as aforementioned, including interface management, requirements management, systems assurance, safety, quality, financial and schedule aspects
- Plan and prepare integrated design, delivery, testing and commissioning schedules and milestones and monitor progress
- Provide monthly reports including cost forecast, schedule and cash flow
- Work with project staff to develop and monitor the project schedule, including identifying critical path dependent elements and recovery methods
- Understand and enforce prime contract and subcontract responsibilities as defined in the PSOS and PA
- Support Project Teams in selecting vendors that meet the project integration requirements, including assessment of RFQ replies
- Supervise, mentor, coach and train project staff
- Maintain excellent stakeholder relationships with clients, subcontractors, engineering, and internal partners
- Negotiate and issue subcontracts and major purchase orders and monitor their progress and schedule
- Responsible for approval of payments to subcontractors, suppliers etc.
- Estimate and process variation orders, including negotiating and assessing cost and schedule impact
- Assume a key role in project close-out, including integration testing and commissioning
- Recruit personnel and oversee their training
- Set interface management and systems integration policies and standards, including determination of safety procedures for the handling of dangerous goods, and ensure compliance with transport regulations
- Be an ambassador of the company both internally and externally
- Carry out all engineering administration in accordance with company policies and procedures
Required Knowledge & Skillsl;
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, or other related discipline
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (PEO)
- Registration with INCOSE or ability to do so within 6 months
- 10 years of experience working on and managing rail systems aspects of complex brownfield and greenfield commuter and metro style rail projects exceeding $250 million contract value
- Several years of experience working on work pursuits and proposals
- Several years of experience working on rail construction projects, with thorough knowledge of all aspects of rail technology, equipment, methods, industry practices, estimating/budgeting, scheduling and safety requirements
- Several years of experience managing rail systems design, interface coordination, installation, integration, commissioning and hand over.
- Significant experience in integrating subsystem schedules into a single cohesive integrated plan
- Several years of financial and commercial management experience of complex rail projects
- Experience with complex private and public partnership contracts
- Excellent oral and written communication
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Team player who is organized and flexible
- Ability to resolve project disputes
- Excellent presentation skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, MS Word and Excel
