Open Day Rail, Bridges & Structures - Glasgow in Glasgow, United Kingdom

AECOM’s Rail, Bridges and Structures division in Glasgow are holding an Open Day on Tuesday 19th February at the Millennium Hotel, George Square, Glasgow, G2 1DS.

Aecom has two offices in Glasgow, with our Citypoint office being the home for our Transportation Division. The campus is a10 minute walk from the city centre and the main Central and Queen Street train stations. Citypoint is a modern office comprising a vibrant mix of disciplines including Major Highway Design, Bridge Design and Assessment, Multi-Disciplinary Railway Engineering, Geotechnical Design and Environmental Remediation. These are complemented by Water, Ports and Power, Transport Planning, Building Structures and Project Management/ QS services in the Bothwell Street office.

Whilst anybody from an Engineering background is welcome to the Open Day, we have a specific interest speaking to; Signalling Engineers (All Levels), Electrification and Plant Engineers and OLE Engineers, Railway Civils Engineers, Bridge Engineering and Rail Project Managers. We are recruiting heavily into our industry leading team

Some of our recent flagship projects within our Glasgow Transportation division include;

  • Forth Replacement Crossing, Scotland
  • M7 Naas, Ireland – AECOM is current the Designer for the SIAC/Colas Joint Venture contractor on this £100m project which involves the construction of two 100m long bridges over the River Liffey as well as several other principal highway structures. The Bridges team in Glasgow is undertaking the bulk of this work in support of our colleagues in Dublin.
  • Civils Assessment Framework Agreement (CAFA) – AECOM is currently employed by Network Rail across five of its rail routes on this framework contract. The Glasgow team works together with the Newcastle and Edinburgh teams to complete the CAFA work in Scotland and also supports other offices in work within their areas. The work involves the inspection and assessment of overbridges, footbridges and underbridges in a multitude of structural materials and forms.
  • York Street Interchange and Dargan Viaduct, Belfast
  • Aberdeen to Inverness Railway Upgrade – AECOM is lead designer on the upgrade of this route that has included new station and passing loops at Forres, enhancement including station upgrade and turnback facilities at Elgin and the 17 miles of double tracking of Aberdeen to Inverurie including a new station at Kintore
  • Network Rail Project Development – We are lead designer on schemes such as Carstairs Junction remodelling and the upgrade of the railway between Perth and Dunblane (7 Cities Connectivity)
  • Edinburgh to Glasgow Improvement Programme (EGIP) – undertook design on behalf of the Alliance including civils/structures works as well as ancilliary civils
  • S&C Renewals/Enhancements – we are an Alliance partner delivering these schemes for Network Rail across all disciplines

We would like to hear from people who are able to offer experience and proficiency in two or more of the key areas;

  • Bridge Engineering – Design, Inspection and Asset Management
  • Experience working with Network Rail or Highways England
  • Railway Project Management Experience
  • Railway Electrification/OLE Experience
  • Ideally you will be Chartered within your relative skill set or working towards this
  • Experience within a design consultancy would be preferred
