Paint Inspector
A Paint Inspector is required to work on a 2 year contract with a blue chip rail company based at their new Rail Technology Centre in Widnes. This is an excellent opportunity to gain rail experience on a prestigious project within the industry.
Hours
90 hours per every 2 weeks. This will average as 45 hours per week. The hours will be working a mixture of day and night shifts and includes working weekends. The hours for days are 07:00 - 17:30 and nights are 19:00 - 05:30.
Rate
The rate for this position is negotiable dependent upon previous experience. This will however, be paid through a limited company. The rate which is agreed will apply to all hours worked.
Location
Preferably applicants will live in Merseyside.
Start Dates
My client is looking for the first person to start on the 17/07/17
Duties:
* Work as directed by and in co-operation with the Senior Operations Manager.
* Support project mobilisation (may be required to travel to other sites UK & Europe).
* Writing detailed reports on the results of testing and other observations.
* Observing the methods and equipment production employee's use and giving them advice to correct errors and increase efficiency.
* Communicating with all other departments so they become aware of any defects in the product and how to repair them.
* Communicating with suppliers and distributors to let them know about potential problems and discuss how to solve them.
* Sharing technical knowledge about the products and processes with relevant staff.
* Assessing whether the finished product meets the required specification set out by the original project plan.
* Use of measurement equipment to record and document compliance to quality standards.
* Keeping digital files and reports on product quality organised and accessible
* Evaluate adequacy of quality assurance standards.
* Devise sampling procedures and directions for recording and reporting quality data.
* Investigate non-conformance issues.
* Collect and compile statistical quality data.
* Develop, recommend and monitor corrective and preventive actions.
* Identify training needs and organize training interventions to meet quality standards.
* Support on-site audits conducted by both internal and external parties.
* Comply with Procedures and Code of Ethics
* To comply with all depot protection procedures
* Understand and abide to safety notices, rules and regulations and follow safe working practices, H&SAW and COSHH
* Provide on the job training to less experienced colleagues as requested
Qualifications Required:
* NVQ Level 3 (equivalent or better) in application of decorative finishes.
* Appropriate Testing/Inspection Qualification
* Extensive experience of paint systems, there application and quality inspection requirements.
Experience Required:
* Experience of repairing GRP (Glass Reinforced Phenolic) Components/Body Work
* Experience in the use of problem solving/trouble shooting techniques
* 2k solvent based paint systems
* Specialist knowledge and experience of paint systems and application processes
* Practical experience of industrial paint application
* Strong analytical and problem solving skills
* Good interpersonal skills
* Able to work on own initiative where required
* Good judgement and decision-making capability
* Attention to detail
* Communication skills - verbal and written
* Data collection, management and analysis
* Planning and organizing
* Customer service orientation
* Teamwork
