Rail Manager

Location: Western Australia.

Opportunity is based in Perth, Western Australia. Looking for a Rail Manager to run the Rail business for a highly respected engineering consultancy in the WA market. A fabulous City based on the banks of the Swan River and an endless coastline of pristine white beaches. During 2020, Western Australia has shown strong government leadership and have protected it’s residents from the effects of COVID. Strong border control, low population density and community awareness has provided a safe bubble for WA residents to live. The economy has surged forwards, being one of two States to grow during the pandemic.

The Infrastructure industry is booming and we are looking to bring over professionals in many areas but specifically Transport. $25billion worth of Roads and Rail projects have been committed to and underway over the next 3 years with an additional injection of a similar amount for the subsequent 3 years . Labour government is resulting in the Rail Industry as the big winner in all of this.

The Role

We are looking for a Rail Business Manager to join a highly respected and well established engineering consultancy focused on design solutions within Transport, Infrastructure, Buildings and Resources. You will use the existing inhouse engineering capability to establish a new focused business unit within Rail that will further support their loyal and existing client base.

You will be primarily responsible for:

• Business development strategy, bidding and securing projects within the Rail business
• Building a high performing team through recruitment and effective management
• Be across all contracts and panel agreements with leading players in the Rail space
• Nurture and develop relationships throughout the full lifecycle of the project
• Manage the successful delivery of the project through your division
• Responsible for the profit & loss and operational leadership of a team

Key Criteria

As a Rail Manager for this elite consultancy we are expecting the successful candidate to fill the below profile:

• Passion for developing long lasting and strong partnerships with clients
• High levels of drive to self-motivate execute a business plan around winning projects and growth of team
• Leadership experience as a divisional manager, or engineering lead
• Previous experience working in the WA market will be advantageous but with the right attitude, drive and determination in business development, it is not essential
• Outstanding communication skills to ensure quality reports and effective relationships with stakeholders
• Engineering degree qualification is essential
• Expertise in Rail project , specifically passenger rail networks
• Extensive project background in Rail Design, Upgrades or Renewals
• MUST have full working rights in Australia – such as Permanent Residency or Australian Citizenship.
