Job Title: Shunter – Rolling Stock/Rail

Duration: 3-6 month initial contract

Our client is a well-known train operating company that service thousands of commuters on a daily basis. They operate to extremely busy schedules and deadlines and are constantly striving to maintain an impeccable record of keeping their trains in service.

The Candidate:

A minimum of 1 year in rolling stock as a shunter is vital. Must be able to pass a PTS medical and if you have a qualification within shunting, this would be preferred but not essential.

The Role:

You will need to be physically strong as some parts of the role require you to lift couplings. A shunter with strong interpersonal skills as you will be working within a team. Attention to detail is key to being successful in this role as you will need to follow guidelines, relay information to other team members and be precise when relaying information as the role is extremely safety critical. A solid experience in the use of comms is required and a full understanding of communicating over a radio using the phonetic alphabet is a must.

Requirements:

To be considered for this role you must have a shunting experience within rolling stock or rail, have a good work ethic, work well in a team and be physically fit/strong. You must be able to pass a medical that includes sight / hearing and a drug and alcohol test.

Rate of pay: £20-25 per hour

Hours: Varying shift patterns (mostly nights) which also includes 12 days off over 28 days but guaranteed 42 hours per week at £20-25 per hour
