Senior Certification Engineer – Midlands - £50-60,000 per annum
About the Role
My client is currently seeking a Senior Certification Engineer to support and help to lead their Assurance and Independent Assessment activities. Experience in an independent assurance role within the UK railway industry is a pre-requisite.
They expect you will have excellent general knowledge of railway systems and standards plus in-depth domain knowledge in specific areas, e.g. passenger rolling stock, OTM/OTP, signalling, communications, electrification, infrastructure, etc.
You will have detailed knowledge of applicable railway legislation, regulations, specifications and standards including EU Directives, TSIs, ENs, ROGS, RIR and UK NTRs.
Our engineers interface with clients and other project stakeholders at both a technical and contractual level. As a senior member of the team you would also guide and oversee the work of less experienced engineers, providing advice and assistance at the detailed level. As a project manager for independent assurance projects, you will be required to manage the delivery of your own work to the client and that of others within the team to timescale, cost and quality.
Skills and Attributes Required
- A relevant Engineering Degree.
- Chartered Engineer.
- Experience in railway rolling stock and / or railway infrastructure approvals.
- An understanding of the UK and European approvals and authorisation processes.
- A willingness to adapt to new roles and ideas.
- An ability to work to tight timescales, on a variety of projects.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Act as the main interface with the Client on both technical and project management matters for your own projects; lead the liaison with other parties as required on project issues.
- Develop proposals and undertake business development activities to enhance client relationships and secure further work.
- Interface with domain experts from other disciplines within the company
- Oversee and review the work of other engineers, including taking responsibility for their technical development if required.
For this Senior Engineer grade, we are typically looking for 10 years of relevant railway engineering experience.
