Senior Rail Systems Estimator â€" Australia

A Senior Rail Systems Estimator is required to work for a contractor to grow the strengthen the business in the Transport. The Senior Rail Systems Estimator to join the estimating team. This is a leadership role that will provide rail systems expertise to the estimating team and will be responsible to lead estimates on large upcoming “once in a generation†projects. A strong background and understanding of rail systems designs, standards and operations is essential along with experience in preparing and leading cost estimates for large scale multi-disciplined EPC and D&C tenders.
The successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for the following:
†To review, comment on and assist in the preparation of rail systems tender designs and installation methodologies.
†To prepare cost estimates & technical proposals for tender submissions within the scope of appropriate drawings, specifications, quantities and duration date.
†Compile tender estimates utilising first principle estimating techniques and development of benchmarking data.
†Coordinate, review and prepare final multi-disciplined estimate reports for management review
†Review tender documentation issued by clients and derive a thorough understanding of clientâ€s requirements.
†You will be required to attend and conduct tender review meetings
†Develop handover documentation and present information to operations personnel to allow profitable execution of the project.
†Continue ongoing project support to operation personnel throughout the duration of the project.
†Maintain currency with industry trends and new design and construction technology.
†Conduct site inspections.
†Issue request for quotations for tenders.
†Ensure quality, safety and environmental requirements are accommodated in tender submissions.
†Provide input to scheduling, engineering, procurement and construction activities.
†Provide input to tender/project risk assessment to determine financial risk.
†Ensure the tender process is regularly reviewed to identify opportunities for improvement.
†Assist other estimating teams within business with estimating and support as required.

To be considered for this position you will have the following:
†Preferably a tertiary qualification in a related discipline or a Trades Certificate.
†Minimum of 10 years experience in estimating and/or engineering rail systems projects with sound costing analytical skills.
†Proficient in planning, organising and working to time lines.
†Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
†Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
†Clear understanding of:
†Appropriate Australian Codes and Standards
†OH&S codes and standards
†Ability to respond to a changing work environment.
†Ability to work in a team environment.
†Able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation.
†Experience with Pronamics Expert Estimating software is desirable.
