Ford & Stanley - The Rail Recruitment Experts are recruiting for a number of Software Developers to join their clients team in Manchester. The role will be to help deliver complex software planning and management systems, that simplifies the planning process, integration and the capture of data.
The Opportunity
The Software Developer will be responsible for the development of application or system software to support the business objectives for the organisation and its customers. The role will see you being exposed to the entire software development lifecycle, from assessing business requirement and design through to testing, deployment and maintenance. An excellent opportunity for an ambitious Software Developer to demonstrate both their technical skills and interpersonal skills.

Role and Responsibilities
- You must have experience in at least one area of software or IT technology - Java 8, Spring Framework, Junit or Git.
- Ability to work with customers to understand their requirements.
- Contribute to supporting documentation.
- Demonstrate and understand the key organisations within the industry.
- Contribute to software projects to deliver quality outputs within deadlines and budget.
- Ensure that any issues effecting the quality, time or cost are communicated to Team Leaders.
- Ability to produce accurate estimates for work within their area of experience.
- Recognise sales opportunities and show initiative.
- Communicate effectively with all levels.
- Mentor team members.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement.
The Candidate
The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 1-2 years relevant experience with an enthusiasm for new technology and a willingness to expand their knowledge and skills. Understanding project management principles is important in order to successfully meet deadlines and budgets.
Essentials
- Experience of object-orientated development and design patterns
- Experience using Java 8, Spring Framework, Junit, Git.
- Attention to detail and strong problem -solving skills.
- Great communication skills with the ability to represent the organisation in a professional manner at industry events.
- Ability to demonstrate initiative and ambition to improve process and products.
Desirable
- Experience with some or all of the following: C#, .NET, LINQ, WPF, MVVM, NUnit, Mercurial, Python, Perl, Functional Programming, Java 7/8, Spring, Spring Boot, AWS, Git, Bash, JavaScript, Angular, Ionic, Bootstrap, SQL, ADF.
- Experience of version control and continuous integration.
- Experience of UI standards and graphical interface design.
- Experience of automated testing (using tools such as NUnit or JUnit)
