- Ensure new Work Instructions from a project are up to date with latest information / editions, authoring any amendments required and acting as document controller.
- Review Technical Bulletin suite with aim to transfer information into Work Instruction format library, currently a paused program of work.
- Review Service Bulletin suite with aim to transfer information into Work Instruction format library, currently a paused program of work.
- Produce Work Instructions as required to address maintenance documentation deficiencies.
Job Purpose
Responsible for translating technical requirements into actionable, documented specifications that will be used to define the build, support and delivery of the technical element of online projects.
To be accountable for these specifications ensuring robust processes and standards are adhered to and that suppliers, contractors, agencies can be held to account for non delivery.
Review and quality assurance of technical delivery by third party suppliers against documented standards and Government guidelines.
Responsible for the provision of detailed written documentation, including online guides, manuals, supporting product development, solutions, design and architecture specifications.
Key Accountabilities
• To own and manage the Quality Assurance review process, measurement and enforcement of defined standards.
• To define and deliver accurate, unchallengeable blue prints which ensure contractual obligations are met and are enforceable
• Ensure that processes are reusable, efficient and cost effective to support the 3S Principles – Simple, Scalable, Supportable
• Embedding standards and processes across multiple teams and multiple suppliers to deliver to high quality tools and online services.
• Gathering information and presenting it in suitable formats with an understanding of the target audience. Proofreading, editing and formatting documentation for technical, business and consumer audiences
• Working with relevant stakeholders to discuss technology and authoring requirements
• Researching, designing and creating technical documentation in a timely and quality manner
• Define, create, and maintain an up to date library of technical documentation that supports a consistent and efficient delivery process.
Knowledge
• Knowledge of back end infrastructure and architecture that supports online delivery such as operating systems, networks, hosting, firewalls
• Knowledge of online technologies
• Knowledge of technical authoring tools and techniques
Formal qualification(s)
Formal Engineering Degree or Higher National Diploma or equivalent (desirable)
Member of Professional Institution (desirable)
Working towards or at Professional Recognition (desirable)
Skills
• To be able to fully converse and interact with highly technical resources internally and externally
• Ability to use evidence based insights to ensure that deliverables meet required standards
• An analytical mind and an inquisitive nature
• Clear and concise writing style with a flair for turning technical subjects and jargon into easily understood text, diagrams and images
• Translating complex technical information in to easy to use/understand proposals
• Ability to absorb information quickly and deliver to deadline
• Team-working skills and excellent verbal communicator with a high standard of written English
• An awareness of graphic design, and the processes involved in print and online publishing
• An awareness of technical architecture and how this is best documented
Experience
• Insight or experience of technical development methodologies Agile, Scrum, ITIL
• Insight or experience of process development methodologies DMAIC, LEAN
• Experience of working within a technical team or environment
• Experience in authoring technical documents for use by technical and non technical audiences
• Experience in engineering / maintenance discipline
