We are currently recruiting for a Technical Author to work on rolling stock related projects. The job post is accountable for the delivery of all required installation and maintenance documentation.

***This role is working in the public sector and therefore must be set up on a PAYE or Umbrella basis. No limited companies are permitted. ***

Key Accountabilities

• To own and manage the migration of information from Suppliers to Installers and Maintainers process control systems
• To define the processes required to maintain the technical library
• Ensure that processes are reusable, efficient and cost effective to support the 3S Principles - Simple, Scalable, Supportable
• Embedding standards and processes across multiple teams to deliver to high quality documentation
• Gathering information and presenting it in suitable formats with an understanding of the target audience.
• Proofreading, editing and formatting documentation for technical, business and consumer audiences
• Working with relevant stakeholders to discuss technology and authoring requirements
• Researching, designing and creating technical documentation in a timely and quality manner
• Define, create, and maintain an up to date library of technical documentation that supports a consistent and efficient delivery process.
  

Knowledge, Skills and Experience expected will be as follows:

• Technical authoring expertise including relevant tools
• Knowledge of Adobe FrameMaker
• To be able to fully converse and interact with highly technical resources internally and externally
• Ability to use evidence based insights to ensure that deliverables meet required standards
• Ability to negotiate with and influence suppliers, technical teams and Senior Managers
• Clear and concise writing style with a flair for turning technical subjects and jargon into easily understood text, diagrams and images
• An awareness of technical architecture and how this is best documented
• Excellent verbal communicator with a high standard of written English
• Translating complex technical information in to easy to use/understand proposals
• Experience of working within a technical team or environment
• Experience in authoring technical documents for use by technical and non technical audiences
