Technical Director Diversity and Inclusion
What is the purpose of this role?
To deliver a more inclusive and accessible service provision, increasing our ability to serve existing and potential customers
Tackle the TD responsibilities with a particular focus through the lens of promoting and developing enhanced diversity of our teams and resources.
A role model and leader to challenge "conventional" thinking and approaches to team contributions and innovation.
A catalyst for change in Consulting and Rail technical communities in developing a safe, inclusive and fair culture.
Where people feel respected, engaged, able to speak out and be themselves
Shaping a recruitment process that encourages a diverse technical employee population. To positively influence the career choices of the next generation and those who don’t traditionally apply so that we attract applications from a wider range of potential employees.
To use open, transparent and merit-based processes to appoint, promote and retain the best people who bring a diverse range of opinions, ideas and experiences
What will this role involve?
To encourage innovation, positive interactions and new collaborations that enhance our performance, decision-making and preparedness for the future
What are we looking for?
Effective change Management (ideally evidenced in a diverse/inclusion
Innovative thinker – able to make the link for example, between bridge design and visual impairment
Collaborative Working able to work with the Inclusion Business Partner and Diversity Networks (and the Business Leaders, who may be more “traditional” in some cases)
Communication with both for the minority population and illustrating the issues and links referred to above.
To work with our customers, suppliers and commercial partners to promote our commitment to diversity and inclusion.
To build more collaborative relationships with community-based groups and stakeholders so we are better able to meet their current and future needs
Strong influencer – able to challenge traditional norms (and do so whilst acknowledging / and if necessary arguing the case with appropriate “levers” from the traditional perspective)
Strong technical knowledge (preferably with a breadth across technical areas)
Enthusiasm / passion for EDI
