Technical Director / Rail sector / Up to £80k / Ashford

Maclean Moore are currently working in partnership with a successful multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy, working on a diverse range of interesting and challenging projects.

Due to ambitious development plans, they are now expanding their rail team. This division has a respected reputation in the industry, which has developed as a result of their success in delivering for their clients. The team capability is civils/structures biased and in addition, the delivery of multi-disciplinary rail projects is led by the team. Typical projects involve bridges, stations, buildings, lineside structures, culverts, drainage, car parks, depots and temporary work. Services include surveying, examinations, reporting, assessments, design, site supervision and engineering assurance.

The role

The main purpose of the role is to provide a technical leadership function in the rail team. You will have outstanding technical knowledge of structural mechanics, Eurocodes, British Standards and some familiarity with railway codes. You will have the ability to lead the design of the most complex of structures, as well as supporting and mentoring graduate and junior employees.

You will also have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to develop relationships based on your visible technical and project delivery ability. Taking ownership and accountability for the work of others is an essential part of the role.

You will be professionally qualified, have good numerical and verbal/written communication skills, and demonstrable experience and expertise in the operation of a consultancy environment in the rail or civils sector. A large proportion of your experience will have been gained within UK consultancies.
