Job Summary
This is the most exciting time in AECOM's history to join one of the UK's fastest growing Railway businesses which offers our clients full end to end Rail design Services.
Our Transportation team currently have a vacancy in our Aecom Rail Team for a Technical Director with extensive experience of working on Network Rail’s infrastructure, London Underground and/or metro / light rail networks. AECOM is currently expanding its already substantial rail engineering team in the Midlands following several major project wins and to respond to upcoming opportunities.
The successful candidate will be a Chartered Engineer with significant, proven experience of leading the delivery of multi-disciplinary rail projects to client’s satisfaction at the appropriate standard, ensuring accuracy of drawings and calculations, ensuring designs are economic and appropriate and that the relevant codes and standards are complied with. You will have strong business development and client relationships skills and the ability to develop and manage the work of others. You will also have the technical ability and knowledge and competence to guide and teach others.
The Rail business within AECOM has an established track record of successfully delivering major rail projects. Our modern offices have good transport links and accommodate multidisciplinary transportation design centres. We are now looking to enhance and grow this team with individuals with a sound technical background and share our enthusiasm and determination to support our expanding workload. The team provides design, assessment, inspection, construction support and management services on a wide range of rail projects.
The team is involved in projects in the UK, Europe and the Middle East with a variety of clients. Our services offered to our clients include feasibility studies, scheme designs and detailed designs. Our clients are from the private and public sector and include HS2, Network Rail, London Underground, TFL, Nexus, TfGM, Centro and Croydon Tramlink. Our current portfolio of works comprises a diverse mix of local, national and international rail infrastructure projects.
Projects currently under production by staff in the UK include:
• HS2 Line of Route West
• Northern Hub & Electrification Alliance
• Network Rail National Gauging Programme
• Network Rail NINIS Framework
• Nexus Plain Line Renewals
• Croydon Tramlink
• LUL Bakerloo & Central Line
Minimum Requirements
Proven, significant experience in project leadership, design and project management and providing technical expertise to Clients and teams.
Significant multi-disciplinary project and major project experience.
Proven leadership skills
BSc, BEng or MEng degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent technical discipline relevant to rail)
Chartered Engineer and member of a professional institution
Capable of acting as CEM or CRE on larger projects where a lead is required
Awareness of the role of CEM and CRE according to Network Rail’s Standard NR/L2/INI/02009 Engineering Management for Projects
Experience of working with large infrastructure and minor projects within Rail
Understanding of Health and Safety including CDM
Preferred Qualifications
• Proven leadership skills
