The Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Temporary Works Coordinator to join our VolkerRailStory JV team working on the Hope Valley Freight Capacity Scheme.

The Hope Valley Capacity project is part of the Northern Hub Programme that aims to improve capacity and reduce journey time between key cities in the north of England. The main work delivered by the project are:

  • Hope Valley Line Speed Increase - Line Speed increases between Edgeley Junction and New Mills South Junction
  • Up Bamford Loop - A passing loop which aims to remove conflicts between passenger and freight services
  • Dore Capacity - remodelling of the junction from the Midland Main Line, Doubling of Dore Station Junction, redoubling the platforms at Dore & Totley Station and the improved standage of Dore South Curve.

The work will be delivered in collaboration with the Network Rail Capital Delivery team. This is a true multi-discipline project requiring alterations to Track, Signalling, multifunctional Civil Engineering, Overhead Line Electrification (OHLE) Telecommunications and Electrical & Plant assets.

Due to the sensitivities of delivering works within the Peak District National Park, elements of the project are controlled by conditions set within a Transports and Works Act Order (TWAO).
