Missions & Main activities
The role relates to the execution of the Birmingham tramway network extension contract. The aim of this once-renewable five-year contract is to construct 4 km of new line in the coming three years (three extensions) and an additional 15 km in the following five years (two additional lines).
The role of Egis Rail is included in a partnership agreement called "The Midland Metro Alliance" which brings together the Prime Contractor, the Construction Consortium and the Engineering Office.
This exciting role is for an Track and Alignment Engineer who is responsible for providing tramway track and alignment expertise and design as required including reports, interface, drawings, calculations, site supervision, quality control, etc. during the design, procurement, construction, and O&M stages.
The Track and Alignment Engineer is also responsible for the tram ducting design and integration.
The successful candidate will deliver; tramway track expertise and trackform design (ballast and slab track); tramway track alignment (horizontal, longitudinal profile and altimetry); and the track drainage design.
You will have:
• Previous experience with Light Rail LRT or railway design projects
• Previous experience in trackform and/or alignment design
• Familiar with basic track functions and the different trackform types
• An understanding of turnout geometry and components
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D or Bentley PRT
• Previous management experience: delegating with technicians and/or managing production of deliverables
• Previous experience in coordination with other disciplines and collaborative approach
• Previous experience in fast paced projects and work under pressure
• Is able to communicate effectively by oral and writing (reports, specifications, etc.)
• Previous construction site experience
